Frequently asked questions
- How do I work out my hourly tutoring rate?
- Start from the net income you want to keep over the year and add your costs. Divide that total by the share you keep after taxes and commission: that gives the revenue you need to bill. Then divide it by the number of lesson hours you bill in a year. That is the calculation this tool runs.
- What tax rate should I enter?
- Enter the share of your revenue that goes to income tax and social contributions in your country and status. It varies a lot from one country to another, so check your tax office's figures or ask an accountant. Tutors in France on the micro-entreprise regime can use the French version of this calculator, which applies the official URSSAF rates.
- Why count prep and travel time?
- A billed lesson hour often takes more than an hour of work. With 15 minutes of prep and 20 minutes of travel, every one-hour lesson takes 1 hour 35 of your time. The calculator shows your net income per hour actually worked so that time stays visible.
- Should I discount lesson packages?
- It is not required: a prepaid package also sells on convenience, with fewer payments to track. The calculator shows what each discount costs per lesson, so you decide knowing the real price.
- Is what I type saved anywhere?
- Your values stay in your browser (local storage) so you find them on your next visit. Nothing is sent to Kadrella. The Clear everything button removes them.
- Should I include a platform commission?
- If some students book you through a marketplace that keeps a share of each payment, enter that share: the calculator raises your price so your net income stays the same. Leave it at 0 for students who pay you directly.
